Privacy Policy
Effective August 4, 2026
BopMe is a brand operated by Beekman One LLC (“BopMe,” “we,” “us”), 4001 N Ravenswood Ave, Chicago, IL 60613. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect when you use BopMe and how we use, share, and protect it.
What we collect
- Phone number (your identity and how we text your song and login codes) and email (receipts, login, delivery).
- Payment metadata via Stripe — we never store full card numbers.
- Your inputs — the recipient’s name, occasion, the “what’s funny about them” text, and genre/tempo. These may describe a third party (the song’s subject) who is not you.
- Photos you upload (optional) — if you ask us to make a photo video, the images you choose. The image files stay private: we do not publish them, there is no public link to them, and we do not use them to promote the service. The video you ask us to make from them is different. It is the gift, so it plays on the page your recipient opens, anyone with that link can watch it, and your recipient can save it and pass it on. Choose your photos with that in mind.
- Device / usage data — IP and device info for login, security, and abuse prevention, plus recipient-page view data.
- Push token (iPhone app only) — if you allow notifications, Apple gives us an identifier for that device so we can tell you when your song is ready.
How we use it
To create and deliver your song, authenticate you, prevent abuse and fraud, provide support, comply with law, and improve and promote the service.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to run BopMe: Stripe (payments) and Apple (in-app purchases on iOS), Twilio and Sinch (SMS), Resend (email), Sightengine (screening uploaded photos), Railway (hosting) and Tigris (file storage). If you use the iPhone app and allow notifications, we also send Apple the notification itself, which names the person your song is for. We do not sell or share your personal information for money or for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we don’t run third-party advertising trackers. A current sub-processor list is available on request.
AI providers. Making your song means sending the details you type (the recipient’s first name, your relationship to them, the occasion, and the “what’s funny about them” text) to third-party AI services: Anthropic (Claude writes the lyrics and the voice direction), kie.ai / the Suno audio engine (sings the song), and ElevenLabs (Scribe, which time-aligns the lyrics so the words highlight in time with the music). We send only what the song needs. We don’t send your phone number or email to any of them, and we don’t use your inputs to train our own models.
Photo screening. If you upload photos, each one is sent to Sightengine, an image-moderation provider, before we will use it. Sightengine receives the image itself and returns scores for two things: sexual content and graphic violence. Those scores decide only whether a photo can be used.
We do not analyse anyone’s face. We do not run face detection, face recognition, or age estimation, and we do not collect, generate, or store a face template, faceprint, or any other biometric identifier. Nothing in this process is used to identify anyone. A photo of a child is not blocked for being a photo of a child; the same single standard for sexual content applies to every photo, whoever is in it.
SMS / text messaging
With your consent, we send transactional text messages related to your order — a link to play and share your finished song, order and refund status, and one-time login codes for “My Songs.” You give your mobile number at checkout, but we never ask you to agree to texts there. Texting is a separate, optional choice: after payment, while your song is being made and again once it’s ready, an unchecked box lets you opt in. You always get your song on screen and by email whether or not you tick it, so agreeing to texts is never a condition of buying.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors that support our service (for example, our SMS provider) is permitted solely to deliver these messages. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent — this information will not be shared with any third parties.
- Message frequency varies — typically one message when your song is ready, plus occasional order updates and any login codes you request.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help.
Third-party subjects
Because buyers submit information about other people, a person who is the subject of a song may contact us to access or delete content about them (see Your rights). That includes photos: if you appear in a photo someone else uploaded, or you are the parent or guardian of a child who does, email support@bopme.co and we will remove it. You do not need a BopMe account to ask.
Retention
We retain orders and songs tied to your phone or email to provide your library and for legal and financial records. You can delete your identity yourself at any time: open My Songs and choose Delete my library. That removes your phone number, your email and any photos you uploaded, and signs you out, so the library can no longer be reached. Songs you already sent keep working, so a gift you gave someone isn’t destroyed by your closing your own account. You can also email us to request deletion.
Photos are deleted on a clock, whether or not you ask. We keep the photos you upload for 90 days after the last time we used them to make a video. Each new video resets that clock. If you upload photos and never make a video from them, the 90 days run from the day you uploaded them. After that a scheduled job deletes our copies for good. Photos we sent to Sightengine for screening are held under that provider’s own retention terms. You can also delete any photo yourself while you are making your video, or remove all of them with Delete my library.
The video outlives the photos. A finished photo video is the gift, so we keep hosting it after the photos that made it are deleted, and your recipient’s link keeps working. That means images from your photos remain inside a video we store. If you want a photo video taken down as well, email support@bopme.co and we will remove it.
Your rights
Depending on your location (CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, and similar laws): access, deletion, and correction. We do not sell or share your personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of; if that ever changes, we’ll add a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” control. To make a request, email support@bopme.co. We honor verified requests within legally required timeframes, including requests from song subjects.
Children
You must be 18 or older to buy a song, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 18.
A song’s subject can be a child. A parent making a funny birthday song for their kid is a common reason people use BopMe, so the details a buyer gives us, and any photos they upload, may describe or show a child. When you write about a child, you are telling us you are their parent or guardian or that you have permission from someone who is. We never allow content that sexualizes anyone, and never a minor.
Cookies
We use only strictly necessary cookies — for login and session, security, and payment. We don’t use advertising or third-party analytics trackers, so there’s no cookie banner to click through. If we add analytics later, we’ll update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent.
Security & transfers
We use reasonable safeguards. Data may be processed in the United States.
