The basics
What is BopMe?
BopMe makes a custom, funny song about someone you know. You tell us a few things about them, we write and record the whole thing, and a few minutes later you have a real song to send. It's $5.
How does it work?
Three steps. Tell us about them (a name, what's funny about them, and a music style), pay $5, and a few minutes later your song is ready. You get a page you can text them, a lyric video, and the MP3.
How long does it take?
Usually a few minutes. You can watch it get written, recorded, and mixed on screen. We email you the link the moment it's ready, and we'll text it to you as well if you tick the box for that, so you can close the tab and come back later.
Do I need an account?
No. No signup, no password, nothing to cancel later. We use your phone number to save the song to your My songs list so you can find it again.
What do I have to give you?
Their name, a few funny details about them, and a music style and energy. At checkout we ask for a phone number and an email: the phone is how you get back into your songs later, and the email is where your receipt and the song link go. You can also tick a box to get a text the moment the song is ready.
Making the song
Do I have to write the lyrics?
No, and that's the whole point. You never write a lyric or a music prompt. You answer a few easy questions about the person and we write and record the entire song.
What should I put in the “what's funny about them” box?
The specific stuff. Inside jokes, the one weird habit, the thing they will not shut up about, how they park. The more specific you are, the funnier the song gets. You have 500 characters, and if you go blank there's a thought-starters button with prompts like “Weirdly proud of…” and “Banned from…”
What music styles can I pick?
More than 60. All the usual ones (pop, hip-hop, country, rock, R&B, K-pop, EDM), plus a Comedy Gold shelf where the style itself is the joke: Viking metal, sea shanty, Broadway showtune, Irish pub song, comic opera, gospel choir, barbershop quartet, circus march, medieval bard, telenovela ballad. Scoring something small and silly like it's the most epic thing that ever happened is where a lot of the laughs come from. Can't decide? Spin the genre wheel and we'll pick for you.
Can I choose the singer's voice?
Not directly. We design a voice to fit the music style you picked, and it shifts from take to take, so even a remix that changes nothing can come back sounding different. You can't request a specific person's voice, and we don't imitate real singers.
How long is the song, and what language is it in?
A full song, usually about two to three minutes, written and sung in English.
What kinds of songs can I make?
Four flavors: Celebrate (a birthday or a big moment), Just Because (no reason at all), Roast & Trash-Talk (friendly burns, never mean), and Crew Anthem (a hype song for the whole group).
Can I roast someone?
Yes, it's an entire category. We keep it playful, never cruel. You do have to confirm you have permission to roast them.
Can I make a serious or romantic song?
Every BopMe song keeps a sense of humor, so it won't be a straight, serious ballad. But it's warm too. Make one for a wedding, an anniversary, or a new baby and you get something celebratory and full of heart, with the humor woven in, not sappy and not mean.
Price, remixes, and refunds
How much is it, and what's included?
$5, once, for the song. That includes 5 free remixes, the shareable page, the lyric video, and the MP3. There's no subscription and no account.
What's a remix?
A do-over. If the first take isn't quite right, reopen the form (it comes back pre-filled) and change anything you want: the details, the music style, the energy, even the whole category. We record it again from scratch. You get 5 free remixes per song.
Do I lose the earlier versions when I remix?
No, we keep every take. You can play them side by side on your song's page and pick your favorite. The link you send always plays the one you picked, so you never have to re-send anything.
What if I don't like the song?
Remix it free first, that fixes it most of the time. If it still isn't right, we'll give you your money back. Love your song or your money back.
How do I get a refund?
Email help@bopme.co and tell us what went wrong (we do ask for a reason). The money goes back to the card or wallet you paid with, usually within 5 to 10 business days depending on your bank. The guarantee covers one refund per person.
How do I pay?
Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Link, all handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
Do you have promo codes?
There's no public promo code. If someone at BopMe handed you a code, tap “Have a code?” on the payment screen.
Getting it and sending it
What do I actually get?
Three things. A page with their name on it that you can text them (the song plays there and the lyrics light up karaoke-style as it goes), a vertical lyric video built for TikTok and Instagram, and the MP3 to keep.
How do I send it?
Hit share and pick whatever you already use: text, WhatsApp, email, anything. Or save the video and post it. Or download the MP3 and send just the audio.
Is my song watermarked?
The MP3 is clean audio with no watermark. The lyric video carries BopMe branding on the cover and the end card, since that's the one made for posting.
Where's my lyric video?
It takes a little longer than the song, usually a minute or two after, sometimes a few more. Your page will say “Preparing your video…” and then swap to a save button on its own. The link and the MP3 work the whole time.
I lost the link. How do I find my song?
Go to My songs and enter the phone number you used at checkout. We'll text you a code to unlock your list, no password needed. We also emailed you the link the moment the song was done, and texted it to you as well if you opted in.
Will you text me?
Only if you ask us to. There's a checkbox to get a text when your song is ready. Leave it unchecked and you'll still get the song on screen and by email, which we send either way. We only ever send order texts, never marketing.
How do I stop the texts?
Reply STOP to any message and we'll stop. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.
Rules and what's allowed
What isn't allowed?
BopMe is for funny, good-natured songs. Roasts are welcome, hate is not. We don't allow hate speech, harassment or threats, jokes targeting a whole group, anything involving anyone under 18, sexual content, real celebrities or public figures by name, or imitating a real singer's voice.
Why did my song come back with “one quick tweak”?
The studio that records the music has its own picky filter, and something in the lyrics tripped it. It's usually a real famous name, a line of real song lyrics or a brand phrase, a pile-up of intense words, a lot of repeated swearing, or just an everyday word it misread. Swap the likely culprit for a description and we'll finish the song. It's free, and it doesn't use up one of your remixes.
Can I name a celebrity or a real band?
No. Keep it about someone you actually know. Naming a real artist or band is the single most common reason a song gets rejected, so we catch it before you pay. Pick a genre and energy to set the vibe instead.
Can the song sound like a specific singer?
No. We don't imitate or clone real voices. Pick a music style and we'll nail the vibe that way.
Someone made a song about me and I want it gone.
We'll take it down. Use the “Report this song” button on the song's page, or email help@bopme.co. We remove the song and kill the share link.
Rights, privacy, and help
Do I own the song? Can I post it anywhere?
It's yours. Post it, share it, play it wherever you like, personal or commercial. One honest caveat worth knowing: music generated by AI may not qualify for copyright protection at all, so we can't promise you exclusive ownership of it. Nobody can.
What do you do with the details I type in?
We use them to write the song, and we keep your order so it stays in your My songs list. Your inputs are sent to the AI services that write and record the music. We don't sell your data, and there are no ad trackers on the site.
Is BopMe accessible?
We build to WCAG 2.1 Level AA: readable contrast, visible focus rings, big touch targets, and keyboard and screen-reader support. If something is in your way, email help@bopme.co and we'll get you your song another way.
Still stuck?
Email help@bopme.co and a real human will read it. If you'd rather talk press, or just tell us a song went over great at the party, our contact page has the right inbox for that.
